John and Elli Milan's work belongs to both corporate and private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, the Philippines, and Dubai. Both artists grew up in Hawaii and met as teenagers at a beach party. Soon after, they decided to go to art school together in Savannah Georgia where they attended Savannah College of Art and Design. The couple has had a long love affair with the country of Greece. They have taken many extended trips over the years, setting up a studio each time to paint what has inspired their artwork and refreshed them as artists. The Milans moved to Athens Georgia to finish their art studies at the University of Georgia. It was in this small but vital city that they developed their independent personal styles and began showing and selling their work (see examples above of John and Elli's individual work from early in their career). Soon after the birth of their first child, the Milan's moved to Arizona to be near extended family. Currently, they live in Queen Creek, AZ with their four children. John and Elli's Story of Collaboration It had been the cry of our heart for years for my husband and I to paint together...we made many attempts. We tried painting separate parts...each one a layer, we even tried painting together simultaneously. Now they collaborate together to produce these colorful land and cityscapes. "Only through collaboration are we able to bring into unity our two very different sensitivities as artists in the abstract style."
